A superb Minton cabinet plate, combining hand-painting of exceptional skill and artistry with a design at once refined, stylish and luxurious.
The painting of the white stork standing in water amid bulrushes is finely composed and executed. Set into the duck egg-ground border are six well-painted panels of butterflies and moths, framed by raised and hand-tooled gilding.
The base is impressed with MINTON, a potter’s mark, the cipher for 1868 (G), and the month initial for October (O).
Condition: Pristine, apart from faint utensil scratches on the central painting, and minor gilt rubbing to the rim.
